wewow announces winner of sustainable packaging design competition

Back in September, wewow launched a unique media packaging design competition seeking to promoting creative, sustainable design to students, graduates and designers.  The Bradford-based company have today announced the winner of the design contest; Sun Park, a post-graduate student from Central St Martins College, London.

Sun Park has combined design flair with an environmental conscience to produce an innovative packaging solution for the optical media industry.  Although the details of her inspiring design are being kept under wraps until the official launch of the product later this year, wewow have commented on the high calibre of this year’s entries.

Managing Director, Stuart Jones remarked; “The designs we have received this year have been outstanding and truly innovative.  Selecting the winning design was a tough decision as the five entries we short-listed were truly exceptional.”

wewow received entries from across the globe, with one of the final entries coming from Florin Alexa-Morcov from Romania.  Her design, ‘DisPlay’ transformed CD storage into a unique interior design feature whilst utilizing sustainable paperboard and water-based glues.  Commendations also go to Andrew Rennie, who produced a unique packaging solution for CDs to provide an alternative to jewel case packaging and Sarah Young, the designer of a unique USB packaging solution, ideal for promotional give-aways.

wewow will now work with the winning entrant to develop and commercialize her ideas and the final product will be launched towards the end of 2010.  www.wewow.co.uk
