field, a new creative space in London’s new cultural magnet Brixton

field is a rare innovation encompassing the talents of Thinking Flowers? and Ribbon Tank. This is the first time these two young female entrepreneurs will come together and they will be the first in a series of endeavors from the pioneering Space Makers project.

The project aims to build the market into a destination full of surprising and unique shops which will draw visitors from across London, while supporting the long-term future of the local economy in Brixton.   field will offer apparel, accessories, flowers, therapies and will also serve as a gallery space showcasing the best up and coming talent from the likes of Solo One, James Winter and Dr Joanna Brown – responsible for the Make Poverty History campaign.

Thinking Flowers?, founded in 2003 by social entrepreneur Lauren Craig (MA), will offer floral design installation by commission, workshops, courses and flower essence therapies. The company brings ethical floral design and education to all their clients helping them to prevent social and environmental damage to the earth.

Anna Chilton will launch her new bespoke tailoring and design business Ribbon Tank, designing and making one off affordable pieces and illustrated t-shirts. Anna has created pieces for the likes of Miss Selfridge who commissioned her first line in 2006. Her current apparel collection ranges from gold leather jump suits to evening ball gowns.

“Field is not a fashion or flowers shop, gallery, workshop or therapy center but an entity where these things meet to create a place to relax, play, create and adorn. Field lets people experience our connection to nature while showcasing art and design. I’m looking forward to showing people how a collaboration between a mix of disciplines encourages access to art, beauty and entrepreneurial activity in the local community.” Lauren Craig (MA)

Field is looking for other people to join the team. This is aimed at artists, entrepreneurs and therapists who are looking for a space to explore and create. For more information, visit www.enterthefield.org. (application is by portfolio and completion of a personal audit). The competition is a great opportunity for innovative, intelligent and creative people alike.
